Cut yourself some slack! 🫵🏿🫵🏿🫵🏿

We're juggling multiple things every day - our jobs 👨🏾‍💼, partners ❤️, hobbies ⛸, kids 👦🏿, side hustles ➕ among other things and people.

Things can pile up easily, and we're bound to feel overwhelmed every so often 😮‍💨.

It's important to know the signs of exceeding your limits, so that you know when to take a break to reassess what really matters in life — your health 🏥.

  1. You're Questioning Yourself (More Than Usual) ❓❓❓

We all have those moments of "hmm, maybe what I've just worked on isn't quite right" 🤨, but when those questions start popping up more than usual, it's probably time to take a step back 🪜.

Being a creative often entails of being unsure but doing it anyway and ending up loving 🥰 the results.

It’s a career driven by trusting the unknown and spikes of eccentricity ⚡️ as it comes.

The more depleted you feel, the less likely it is you have those outbursts of passion ❤️‍🔥 and excitement that drive 🚎 your creativity.

Instead, you’re more prone to having niggling doubts and a reluctance to go on with projects ☹️.

  1. Everything and Everyone Annoys You 😤😤😤

Nothing feels right, and you're suddenly drawn to anger quickly 😡. It’s as if you’re constantly about to burst at the seams 👖.

This isn’t you 🧍🏿🧍🏿‍♀️🧍🏿‍♂️.

It’s something bigger than you. You’re simply not in a good place, and so you’re having a hard time going on as if you are 🫣.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help from loved ones and professionals 🫴🏿.

Trust us when we say, this experience is not just your own, we’ve all been there 🫱🏽‍🫲🏿.

  1. You're Getting Defensive 🥷🥷🥷

Suddenly things that didn’t matter before matter so much and principle goes over everything.

You're starting to close off people and getting overprotective over things you usually wouldn't have a big fuss over 😶.

  1. Procrastination Is Your Best Friend 🤧🤧🤧

You said ‘tomorrow’ two months ago and yet, you’re still here with a to-do list 📝 that has yet to be touched, plans that you haven’t gone through with and everything looming over your head.

Oops 🙈.

Maybe tomorrow… again? 🤷🏿‍♀️

  1. You're Feeling Stuck and Alone 😥😥😥

There's the feeling of a lack of direction in your life 😶. Everything is overwhelming, and you’re buried beneath it all 😓.

Common sense tells you that you’re just in a bad spot and that you’ll get through it if you go through the motions of asking for help, but it just doesn’t feel like it right now 🫠.

You just can’t see things getting better, and it feels like all the world's 🌍  burdens have been placed on your shoulders.

  1. Sleep Doesn't Make A Difference 🥱🥱🥱

You go to bed tired, and wake up tired 😴.

There’s no respite in between, and this exhaustion seems like it’s going to go on forever.

…Perhaps this is what adulthood is supposed to look like.

No.

That is not the case ❌.

Yes, dark spells and down days are normal. Everyone goes through them at least once, especially in adulthood, but being bogged down 🌫 doesn’t need to be a permanent place of residence.

There IS a way out and there are tangible solutions to this 🫱🏽‍🫲🏿.

  1. Your Anxiety Is Through The Roof 🛖🛖🛖

It's getting really hard to see the good 👍🏿 in things or to envision things getting better.

Happiness feels like it was a lifetime away, as you’re now riddled with recurring worries 🫤 and terrors that take up so much of your energy that they leave you exhausted 😩.

  1. You're Getting Physical Symptoms Of Stress 😖😖😖

Headaches, migraines, exhaustion, stomach, and bowel problems 😰 etc.

Your body 🦶🏾🦵🏿👁 🧠👂🏿 is trying to tell you something. Our minds and bodies are more interconnected than we can imagine!

So, when you’re unable to tap into your needs and listen to what’s wrong, your body makes it, it’s responsibility to communicate 🗣 it with you.

Listen to what it’s telling you often.

If you’re tired, rest 💤.

If you’re hungry, eat 🥪.

If you’re constantly feeling overwhelmed reach out 🫴🏿🫴🏿🫴🏿 and redesign your life to meet your needs.

As a creative, trust and believe there is no merit in exhausting yourself to the point of burn out 🔥.

As much as it is championed in society to work yourself into the ground or grind to the point of utter exhaustion 😫, it just isn’t worth it.

Your passions deserve you at your best 💪🏿.

YOU deserve you at your best 😊.

Practicing self-care in the form of rest, breaks, free and personal time is essential in excelling professionally 🛁.

Always choose your health over your labour. You are more than what you can create 💗.

You are a wonderful wonderful being who deserves to feel at easeeeeeeee 🧘🏿‍♀️🧘🏿‍♀️🧘🏿‍♀️.
